JUNE 2 – 26 AT THE ARSHT CENTER
JUNE 30 – JULY 3 AT THE BROWARD CENTER
Some reviews so far:
…mini-musical …, Mickey Herman Saves the $#&@ World by playwright Marco Ramirez and composer Jim Camacho. Inspired by cheesy, unintentionally funny old sci-fi movies, Mickey Herman is a stylized mess, though Weiner is dryly funny as the title character and Trovillion a hoot as the planet-destroying emperor.
-CHRISTINE DOLEN Miami Herald
Mickey Herman Saves the $#$@ World, with its '80s cheeseball sci-fi flair and Flash Gordon costumes, is a fun little comedy where Rodriguez is comically miscast as Ronnie Fiasco, a jean-jacketed, big-haired heavy metal guitarist who narrates Mickey's harrowing adventures against invading space aliens.
-Chris Joseph - Miami New Times.

The Cavie Islanders & the Troll
An exciting new children’s musical featuring
music & lyrics by Jim Camacho
As seen on CBS-4's Neighbors For Neighbors: http://miami.cbslocal.com/2011/05/25/n4n-childrens-play-teaching-tolerance/
The children’s musical, “The Cavie Islanders & the Troll”, will be making its return to Miami from May 27th through May 29th at the Mandelstam Theater in South Miami. The production is in association with South Miami Gymnastics and features Carbonell Award Winner, Ken Clement, with a cast of 21 children between the ages of 8-12. Miami’s own Jim Camacho penned all original music and lyrics for this musical. “The Cavie Islanders & the Troll” is a musical about the Cavie Islanders’ journey (over the bridge) showing that harmony is possible even when differences are really scary. Song titles include, “Ouch, Don’t Bite Me”, “Dream On”, and “Smile”. The show is being directed by Broadway veteran Nancy Wood.
While multi-instrumentalist/singer-songwriter Jim Camacho is currently promoting his recently released EP/CDs, “Is It Me” and “Beachfront Defeat”, this is his third venture into musical theater. Jim’s rock musical “Fools’ Paradise” premiered in Miami in 2004, went on to successful shows at the Peoples Improv Theater in New York City in 2006, and was work-shopped in Miami in 2008. More recently, Jim’s rock opera “Guru” was debuted in Miami last year and a CD of “Guru” is in the works. Jim is currently busy writing music for City Theater's production of "Mickey Herman Saves The F*#^ing World" by Marco Ramirez, which will debut next month as part of Summer Shorts at the Adrienne Arscht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami from June 2nd through June 26th.
